One of the reasons Cary citizens love their city is the sheer abundance of parks and recreational spots. There are actually 29 in total, and each of them has something special. Let’s take a look at some of the best.
This great park has a lake with rental canoes and paddleboats that are available at reasonable prices. It also has plenty of hiking trails, a children’s playground, and picnic shelters for those days when nothing but dining in the sun will do.
Winding trails, an idyllic forest, an interesting nature museum, and beautiful flora and fauna await visitors to Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. Plus, it’s in the middle of the city, so getting there is quick and easy.
If outdoor sports are your thing, then Annie L. Jones Park is your place. This park features six tennis courts, a baseball field, two basketball courts, and a playground for little ones. If a hike is more your speed, park the car and walk the Annie Jones Greenway.
If a fun day out with the kiddos is what you’re after, Maria Dorrel Park is a great choice. This fun park has play equipment for kids of all ages and multiple play areas, so it never gets too crowded. Kids will get a thrill out of the huge playscapes, and adults appreciate the myriad of shady spots where they can sit and relax. After playtime is over, take a walk on the adjacent Hinshaw Greenway or a meandering stroll through the Swift Creek watershed.
